Introducing Simon McKeon AO

Looking forward to the next Rotary Climate and Peace forum on 10th November www.climateandpeace.com.au

We are very pleased to announce 3 fantastic new speakers for this event; Greg Mullins AO AFSM, Lucinda Corrigan and Simon McKeon AO.

Simon McKeon has held diverse roles within financial services, law, government and charities. We will speak to him from the perspective of his role as Chair of the Australian Industry Energy Transition Initiative. Involving many of Australian industry’s biggest companies, working together to better understand pathways to achieving net zero emissions in supply chains. Companies such as BHP, Woodside, BlueScope Steel, BP Australia, Orica, APA Group, Australian Gas Infrastructure Group and Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers have signed on to the Australian Industry Energy Transitions Initiative. Together they represent 14per cent of Australian industrial emissions and are joined by National Australia Bank, Schneider Electric and Australian Super, who represent the broader system of investments, services, products and knowledge that will be key to supporting industry action towards net-zero supply chains.

Established to influence government and work intentionally and positively towards net-zero emissions the Initiative is sponsored by ClimateWorks and Climate-KIC and is working with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, Australian Industry Group, the CSIRO and the Rocky Mountain Institute, who help cities, communities, states, and regions to meet their energy and climate goals, boost economic growth, and achieve the goals set out in the Paris Accord.

Join us as we hear from Simon, recognising the fine line The Initiative must walk in dealing with Governments in order to achieve their goals.
