Many Australians will know Zali as the four-time Olympian who toppled Tony Abbott from his blue-ribbon seat. World champion athlete- turned barrister Zalia made the headlines and has gone on to establish herself as a credible force challenging all to provide effective action on climate change.
Zali brings her persistence to the role coupled with a deep belief that this is right for the Country. In her maiden speech to parliament, she notes- “It’s time for more than just words. Governments have a duty to serve and to lead. It’s time for fact-based policy and sensible politics. Representing the best interests of all of the people must come above party partisanship and personal interest. “
