Taryn manages Australia’s first community-owned cooperative wind farm, Hepburn Energy (formerly Hepburn Wind), located at Leonards Hill south of Daylesford in Victoria.  The co-operative is a pioneer of the community energy movement, Taryn also led the local Hepburn Shire community in developing a place-based strategy for how to transition to net zero – the Hepburn Z-NET program – which has the ambition to reach zero-net emissions by 2030.

Taryn is a founding director of RE-Alliance, a founding director to the Coalition for Community Energy (which has over 100 member groups across the country), and a director of the Smart Energy Council. In addition, she is a 2016 Churchill Fellow, a 2021 inductee to the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll, and has worked internationally including with resettled communities around Fukushima, Japan, following the 2011 tsunami and nuclear accident.
